The Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and mismeasurement of gastrin

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) is characterized by hypersecretion of gastric acid, severe peptic ulcerations in the upper small intestine, and diarrhea. It is usually diagnosed by measuring increased levels of gastrin in plasma.
