Sport as a communication system

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

Can we understand society by claiming that it consists of communication and nothing but communication? According to German sociologist Niklas Luhmann (1927-1998) the answer is: yes! This chapter briefly outlines this grand theory, which puts communication to the fore, and subsequently focuses on sport and mass media and how these two spheres of society are inter-related.
