Tuomas Kilpeläinen is an Associate Professor at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (Denmark) and an Affiliate Member at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard (USA). Tuomas completed his PhD at the University of Kuopio (Finland) and a 3-year postdoc at the University of Cambridge (UK). He was a visiting scientist and an adjunct assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York) in 2015-2016. Tuomas leads a multi-disciplinary research group studying the genomics of obesity and metabolic health. His aim is to propel understanding of obesity-related cardiometabolic disease by uncovering genetic risk variants' mechanisms of action, particularly in the adipose tissue.
