Associate Professor

Primary fields of research

Ny primary area of research is ancient Greek cultural history in a wide sense. I am especially interested in the Greek city-state culture and in interaction among the city-states, and I also take special interest in the social history of greek athletics. I am also interested in Greek religion and Greek archaeology, and in the great narrative genres of literature, epic poetry and history.

Current research

At the moment, I am working on a small book on the ancient Olympics and soft power (in the sense of Joseph Nye), as well as on a series of articles on related subjects.
