Current research
ResearchThe main topic of research is toxicological mechanisms of environmental exposures, including effects related to air pollution and particles, dietary factors, physiological processes in relation generation of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress. This is mostly investigated as alterations of specific biomarkers of DNA damage, cardiovascular toxicity, and expression level of components in the antioxidant defense and DNA repair systems. The regulation of these protective systems is investigated in various experimental model systems, including transgenic models, and molecular epidemiology.
