Peter Bollen is professor and head of the Department of Experimental Medicine, the central animal facility at the University of Copenhagen and Rigshospitalet.

The Department of Experimental Medicine is responsible for animal-based research, surgical skills courses, education & training in laboratory animal science, makes research animals available to researchers by breeding or purchase, and is responsible for the care and husbandry of animals and assistance and veterinary advice in research.

He is a board member of the National Committee for Laboratory Animals and Alternatives, and the Danish 3R Center, and he is an ad-hoc consultant for AAALAC International.
