Primary fields of research
Our aim is to increase the understanding of the regulation, physiology, and structure-function relationship of proteins involved in transmitting the second messenger Calcium signal leading to cellular responses such as proliferation, motility, migration and plasma membrane repair. We are particularly interested in the role of calcium binding proteins in normal and cancer cells. Presently, we focus on the function of these proteins in the recovery of plasma membrane damage with the goal to interfere with the viability of cancer cells and their function in heart physiology.
