Mark Smits is a postdoctoral researcher at the group of prof. Jens Juul Holst at the department of Biomedical Sciences.

Mark has been educated as a medical doctor in Amsterdam (graduated both is Bachelor's and Master's degree with honor), The Netherlands, and is currently in training to become an endocrinologist. 

His initial research as PhD student was focused on the clinical effects of gut-hormone based therapies. He finished his PhD program with honors at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Whit his current PostDoc, he wants to study mechanisms on how to increase the secretion of gut hormones. 

Mark has published over 65 papers in peer-reviewed journals
