Born April 29 1964 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Studies in Art History at the University of Copenhagen from 1983 completed in December 1992 with the Danish Magister Degree.

From 1993 to August 1996 Ph.D.-student with a project on the subject of imagery of ruins in Italian fifteenth-century art, defended 1997, and subsequently rewritten and published as Ruinbilleder, 1999.

From September 1996 to December 1997 parttime Associate Professor in Art History at the University of Copenhagen. 1998-2002 Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Art History, Aarhus University, 2002-2014 Associate Professor.

In 2005 defence at Aarhus University of the "disputats", The Eloquence of Appropriation: Prolegomena to an Understanding of Spolia in Early Christian Rome, published in Rome, 2003.

2014-: Associate Professor in Art History, Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen.

2022-: Professor in art historie, Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen.

2006: Rigmor and Carl Holst-Knudsen's Research Award, Aarhus University.

2019: HM Queen Margrethe II's Roman Award, The Danish Academy in Rome.

2019: Ole Haslunds Kunstlegat.
