My major scientific focus is directed to the understanding of the functionality of non-protein coding RNAs (ncRNAs) and the implications of RNA structure. My methods of choice are RNA structure modeling, prediction of RNA-RNA and protein-RNA binding, analysis of next generation sequencing data including single-cell RNA-seq, comparative genomics, prediction and annotation of ncRNAs. Currently I am involved in investigations of novel ncRNAs in bacteria (NextProd) and animals (FAANG consortium), host-virus RNA-RNA interactions (Assoc Prof Troels KH Scheel, UCPH), single-cell RNA sequencing in studying neurogenesis (Assoc Prof Vanessa J Hall, UCPH), and transcriptomics in stem cell models for neurodegenerative diseases (NeuroStem).
