Primary fields of research

I examen the ways in which modern satirical artworks have reacted to different kinds of censorship, ranging from traditionel state censorship to contemporary self-censorship. In my research I primarily investigate visual artworks (cartoons, film, tv) from Western countries from 1800 until today.

Previously, the main focus of research has been the history of religious satire in Europe, especially from the twelfth to the nineteench century.

I am founder of Nordic Network for Satire Research an a member of the research cluster Doing Cultural History.
