3S International - Social situation survey of international students at UCPH during the Coronavirus 2020 and 2021

During the present corona crisis, I am also engaged in a research project that seeks to understand the social situation of international students at the University of Copenhagen during the lock-downs. The project is based on a survey among international students at UCPH carried out during the first lock-down in spring 2020 and again in spring 2021.

The research is a collaboration with Bjarke Oxlund, Heiko Henkel, Brian Noel McGahey and Lars Richard Rasmussen at the Department of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen.

We are particularly interested in how international students at the University of Copenhagen have struggled with isolation, loneliness and anxiety during the lockdowns in Denmark as international students may particularly be affected by the shutdown that struck Denmark when we were all sent home in March 2020. International students lack a social network in Copenhagen and are in that sense more fragile and vulnerable in a crisis.

Primary fields of research

My research interests particularly concern the relationship between the construction and practicing of knowledge. My research engages in this relationship through theoretically and empirically informed analyses of the relation between bodily knowledge and linguistic knowledge, cultural knowledge and cultural practice and through the investigations of conceptions of becoming, ekspertise, risk, safety and now belonging.

Moreover, my research engages in qualitative methods, in particular ethnography and autoethnography.
