Sternoclavicular Arthroscopy

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterCommunication

Procedures on the sternoclavicular joint are not common, and arthroscopy of the joint has only been reported sparsely. The advantage of arthroscopic procedures in this joint is the full visualization of the joint cavity, including the posterior capsule, which must not be perforated. There are two standard portals and a 2.9 mm scope is used. Morbidity is low. It is possible to do resection of the intra-articular disc, resection of the medial clavicular end, removal of loose bodies, and synovectomy of the joint. Results are comparable to what is obtained by open techniques.
