I am Colombian, studied forest engineering in Colombia, and wood science in Oregon with emphasis on wood decay and wood preservation. I have worked at the University of Copenhagen in projects related to the polymer lignin. For the last couple of years, my main goal has been to develop lignin-based-biofuels for the marine sector. I have expertise in the following topics:      

• Wood chemistry and wood material science
• Biomass processing and biomass utilization
• Lignin chemistry, lignin reactions. Links between chemical structure and physical properties
• Chemical methods for characterization of biopolymers and cell wall structural analysis
