Stine Brandt Bering

Associate Professor

Academic profile, in brief:

Research focus is on nutrition in relation to gastrointestinal development, immune regulation and brain development, particularly in early life. Methods include in vivo animal models, human studies, in vitro cell models and ex vivo tissue studies to clarify specific intestinal responses and cellular mechanisms. Nutrients of interest are bioactive compounds, pre- and probiotics and human milk oligosaccharides to regulate the immune system and intestinal functions.

Academic degrees:

2006: PhD in Human Nutrition, Dept. Human Nutrition, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

2001: MSc in Chemical Engineering, The Technical University of Denmark.

Academic employment:

Sept 2020 - present: Head of Sections and Associate Professor, Dept. Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

2015 - Aug 2020: Associate Professor, Dept. Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

2011 - 2015: Associate Professor, Dept. Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen.

2006 – 2011: Assistant Professor, Dept. Human Nutrition, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

2001-2006: PhD student, Dept. Human Nutrition, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

Potential conflicts of interest:

The conducted research is funded by public grants (e.g. IFD, DDRF, NNF, GUDP) and industry grants (e.g. Biofiber-Damino, Arla Foods Ingredients, Arla Foods amba, Arla Food for Health, Glycom, Nutricia Danone, Mead Johnson Nutrition) and is based on collaboration agreement between the involved parties.
