My current research focuses on Danish families with an inherited elevated risk of colorectal cancer and how a life under medical surveillance is seen to affect quality of life as well as how initiatives are being developed which are aimed at supporting those living with an inherited elevated risk of colorectal cancer at critical moments in their lives. The study forms part of the ERC-financed research grant VITAL (2015-2020) and is conducted in close collaboration between the Department of Anthropology, led by Professor MSO Ayo Wahlberg, and the HNPCC register at Hvidovre hospital.
Previously, I have conducted ethnographic research on pregnant women in Denmark and how they reason about undergoing or declining routine prenatal screening.
