The public lecture provided a brief glimpse of the development of soccer on the African continent since 1862, and the ways in which it has follwed the expansion of railways, urbanisation, mining and other industrialisation. Subsequently, an introduction was made to the use of magic in African soccer with a special focus on Cameroun and South Africa.
