Primary fields of research

My primary interest: Translational medicine focusing on the gastrointestinal tract and diabetes/obesity hereof more recently focus on the liver-alpha cell axis.

Assesment of hormones secreted from the gut (GLP-1, glucagon, Neurotensin, and Oxyntomodulin) upon nutrients stimulation is one of my high priority - developing new methods for measurement and linking them in a clinical context.

In addtion, I am working with mass-spectrometry based proteomics focusing on plasma proteomics/peptidomics for biomarker identification and their potential use for clinical diagnostics and risk assessment.

I have been formal mentor for medical students appointed by the Municipality of Copenhagen and primary co-supervisor for 5 Master students and involved in the supervision of some PhD Students, Master students and Bachelor students

Instructor of MOOC Diabetes – a Global Challenge (launched February 2014) and Diabetes – Essential Facts (launched December 2016) with more than 100.000 current and former participants:

Gastrointestinal Physiology (5th semester medical students) since 2011 ~ 50 hours excluding preparation
