Nine projects received UCPH Geopolitics Seed Money 2026-2027

UCPH Geopolitics Steering Committee


On 22 May 2026 the Steering Committee reviewed the applications for the UCPH Geopolitics Seed Money call for the academic year 2026-2027. We received 15 applications addressing a wide variety of themes, fields and interdisciplinary activities.

We distributed grants for a total of approximately 1.335.565 DKK.


The Committee decided to support the following applications

  1. “China in Africa: A geopolitical frontier with implications for Africa, Europe and beyond”.
    Main applicant: Stig Jensen, Centre of African Studies, TEO.

  2. “Monarchies in geopolitics: changes and continuities in Scandinavian royal diplomacy, 17th-21st century”.
    Main applicant: Ulrik Langen, Saxo Institute, HUM.

  3. “Talent and Trust: Denmark’s China Dilemma in Research, Innovation and National Security”.
    Main applicant: Yi Ma, Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, HUM.

  4. “Visual Justice Lab – pilot”
    Main applicant: Nina Grønlykke Mollerup, Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, HUM.

  5. “Intimacy and Power: Personal Relations and the Making of Geopolitics in the Modern Era”.
    Main applicant: Marine Julie Pierre, Saxo Institute, HUM.

  6. “WAR [F]OR PEACE: First Copenhagen Winter School on Pacifism in the 21st Century”.
    Main applicant: Fernando Racimo, Globe Institute, SUND.

  7. “Rethinking Humanitarianism and Global Development in a Neo-Geopolitical Environment”.
    Main applicant: Emmanuel Raju, Department of Public Health, SUND.

  8. “Civilizational Paradigm and Cultural Construction of Strategic Spaces: Geographical Chokepoints and Buffer Zones”.
    Main applicant: Mikhail Suslov, Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, HUM.

  9. ”Geo-Lov: Europæiske løsninger mellem demokratisk kontrol og geopolitisk handlekraft”.
    Main applicant: Marlene Wind, Department of Political Science, SAMF.
