In recent decades, the need to develop in our students skills that allow them to improve their learning processes, be more autonomous and know how to learn beyond spaces and classroom times has been emphasized. Competence for learning and, by extension, learning strategies are part of the current educational challenges.

This book is based on the premise that learning strategies can be taught, and its main objective is to gather the most relevant aspects related to learning strategies, so that second language teachers have the necessary tools to help their students to be more self-directed, more autonomous and more effective. In this sense, in addition to conceptualizing the term and explaining it through numerous examples, the book offers extensive repertoires of strategies with their specifications and modes of implementation, an instructional model for their implementation in the Spanish / L2 classrooms, as well as guidelines and examples to work on strategies for learning grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills. Likewise, the book offers teachers opportunities to reflect on their own learning, an essential previous activity that they must carry out before incorporating the strategies into their programs.
