Disease Management Strategies Using Host Resistance

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

This chapter focuses on host resistance, how to diversify resistance in disease management strategies and how these strategies affect disease intensity. A number of terms related to host resistance are introduced. The typical form of host resistance, which can be introduced into new crop plants via plant breeding, is discussed. Different disease management strategies using host resistance, such as variety mixtures, pyramiding of resistance genes, deployment of resistance genes in time and space and mixtures of different plant species, are highlighted.
