Building and landscape: Collaborations with landscape architect Sven Hansen
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
The Danish landscape architect Sven Hansen worked with Friis & Moltke on their most iconic projects during the 1960s and 1970s. A common feature of the many projects is the building volumes’ convincing constellations and embeddedness in the landscape, their crisply defined spatial character and the exceptional quality of both detailing and materials. Hansen’s main achievement was to set Friis & Moltke’s iconic expression in motion, inscribe it in a wide range of relationships of scale, establish a monumental arrival site and facilitate a genuine interplay between inside and outside through layout, materials, detailing and proportions.
