Primary field of research
Drug design and oral drug delivery of biopharmaceuticals by investigating the mechanism governing the intestinal epithelial barrier dynamics. I specifically investigate how different excipients may improve oral drug delivery of low-permeable drugs, evaluated by in vitro cell models that simulate the barrier of the intestinal epithelium.
Previous field of research
During my time as a master's student, my field of research was focused on drug delivery to the brain by overcoming the blood-brain barrier (BBB) which restricts drug transport from the blood to the brain. Specifically, my work was focused on utilizing highly cationic cell-penetrating peptides as cargo-shuttles for potential enhanced drug delivery, evaluated by novel in vitro cell models with BBB properties.
