Primary fields of research
My research focus on crystallization, solid-liquid transformation and dissolution. Common for these processes are that they are controlled by activity in the solid-liquid interface. This layer is well understood theoretically, but difficult to investigate experimentally. We aim to utilize a combination of atomic force microscopy (AFM) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to characterize this interface in situ. A deeper understanding of the solid-liquid interface at molecular crystal surfaces is important for the pharmaceutical, food and fine chemical indutries as it is a key parameter influencing processability, stability and solubility of particles.
