I am a veterinarian, microbiologist and academician. My primary research interest is on antimicrobial resistance mechanism, evolution of antimicrobial resistance, microbial population structure, controlling the spread of drug resistant pathogens from animals to humans, and discovery of new strategies for the diagnosis and therapy of bacterial infections. In 2015, I began my PhD study at the section of Veterinary Clinical Microbiology under the Faculty of Health and Medical sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark.
Primary fields of research
Antibiotic resistance is one of the important global public health problems. The crisis becoming worsen day by day due to the emergences of new multi-drug resistant strains, and the big gaps of new drug discovery. The emergence of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic S. aureus is such example. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are resistant to almost all beta-lactam antibiotics, including methicillin. Several kind of MRSA has been emerged from the previous decades such as Community Associated MRSA (CA-MRSA), Hospital-Associated MRSA (HA-MRSA) and Livestock Associated MRSA (LA-MRSA). Among them, the LA-MRSA has been evolved from livestock, which is more important both for human and for animal because it is directly linked with human-animal contact.
Rapid technological advances in the field of genomics will shed light on antibiotic resistance research and help to tackle the problem. Application of Bacterial genomics and transcriptomic tools can bring new insights of resistance mechanisms, evolution of resistant strains, microbial population network, transmission dynamics, host adaptation, and epidemiology of drug resistance strains. In this perspective, My primary research focuses on the application of genomic and epidemiological tools to develop approaches for controlling transmission, and to discover new targets for diagnostics and therapeutics.
Currently working on the control of transmission of LA-MRSA from livestock to human, detection and molecular characterization of LA-MRSA in Horse, and development of novel PCR protocol for screening of MRSA carrying host.
