In my current research, I focus on cointegration analysis and how this statistical methodology, which is popular in econometrics, can be further developed and extended to provide a principled statistical framework for analyzing experimental data from neuronal and other biological systems. The idea behind is that many biological systems can be seen as networks of interconnected dynamic units. Unravelling how they interact, coordinate and influence each other in a random environment is essential for understanding systems such as the brain. The current statistical methods are still insufficient for solid data analysis. Therefore I investigate, whether and how cointegration analysis can become an instrument that could help to fill this gap.
