My project focuses on the causes and consequences of fiscal institutions in a comparative perspective. Why are some countries' budgetary laws and procedures mores transparent and rule-based than others and what consequences do these differences have for the political processes and the fiscal policy of these countries? My project seeks to explore these issues using quantitative data for a large number of countries. My advisor is professor Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard.
I also have a broad interest in comparative politics and comparative political economy including elections and political budget cycles, electoral systems and political institutions in general, the politics and administration of public employment, corruption, fiscal policy and the political-economic effects of natural ressources.
