Kristin is assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. Her research interests are in IR theory, diplomatic studies, global tech policy and political ethnography. Kristin is also affiliated with the Copenhagen Centre for Social Data Science (SODAS) and a member of the Department of Political Science's Research Ethics Committee.

Kristin teaches across a wide range of courses on IR theory, concepts and methods. In 2020, she was nominated for her Department's Teacher of the Year Award for her MA elective on 'Political Ethnography'. Kristin holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from University College Maastricht, a MLitt and a PhD from the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews, and has worked in the private and policy sector in Doha and Brussels. Kristin remains affiliated with the University of St Andrews as a Research Associate in the School of International Relations. For her PhD research on nation-branding, she has been a visiting researcher at Nazarbayev University in Astana and Qatar University in Doha. This thesis has evolved into a book manuscript and is published under the title ‘Nation-branding in Practice: The Politics of Promoting Sports, Cities and Universities in Kazakhstan and Qatar’ (Routledge, 2020). 

In addition to Kristin's first book, her work has been published in the International Journal of Cultural Policy, Big Data & Society, Global Studies Quarterly, Økonomi & Politik, Millennium: Journal of International Studies, Qualitative Research, European Journal of International Relations, Review of International Studies and Geopolitics. 

Her Global Studies Quarterly article 'The Synthetic Situation in Diplomacy: Scopic Media and the Digital Mediation of Estrangement' (co-authored with Rebecca Adler-Nissen) received the 'Best Article Award' of the Diplomatic Studies Section of the International Studies Association in 2022. 

In 2023, Kristin was awarded the Anthony Deos Award as an emerging scholar in diplomatic studies by the International Studies Association.
