I am a biologist interested in ecological population genetics and genomics of tree species from temperate, Mediterranean and tropical Ecosystems. I use genetic markers to investigate the effects of ecological factors, such as the influence of local environmental conditios, fire events, invasive pathogens or climatic oscillations on the demographic history, spatial genetic structure and adaptations of natural tree populations.
Currently I am a postdoc in the project AshAdapt in which we aim at identifying candidate genes for resistance in Fraxinus excelsior (common ash) against ash dieback caused by the invasive pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus. We also evaluate the damages caused by this disease in natural populations all over Europe.
