As Research Assistant I research and teach/supervise the students at Film and Media Studies.
In my research I focus on public service media, especially television - wether it is on a traditional TV-channel or as on-demand content. More broadly I am interested in media regulation and the role played by media in society.
My PhD project (2014-2018) was about the development of the Danish public service broadcaster DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) as it adapts from being a traditional broadcaster of radio and television to becomming a multi platform player in a digital media landscape. More specifically I have studied how DR is handling its public service task on television by analysing, among other aspects, the development of the channel portfolio, the scheduling strategies and the interplay between the linear television channels and the online streaming and catch-up service DR TV. It is also a part of the project to scrutinize the development and redefinition of the public service notion itself. Following the development I am also very interested in how algorithms and personalization both contributes to and challenges the traditional public service principles.
