Primary fields of research
I am investiageting how BAK-preserved intraocular pressure-lowering eye drops affect the ocular surface with a special focus on conjunctival goblet cells.
Current research
In my PhD project, I investigate how BAK-preserved intraocular pressure-lowering eye drops affect cultures of goblet cells cultivated from human conjunctival tissue. In addition, I investigate differences in physical and chemical properties between generic and original eye drops.
Finally, I am investigating whether a BAK-preserved eye drop causes more ocular damage and lower goblet cell density than a preservative-free eye drop in patients.
