An applied anthropologist by conviction and experience for 25 years, I have dedicated my professional life to assist anthropology students and graduates in their attempts to use their knowledge and competencies to make a real difference in the world. Not only through the research that they produce, but also through the multiple ways anthropology has shaped their ability to grasp and act in the world in ever new ways, academics and practitioners of anthropology alike are making important contributions to the development of humankind. I endeavour to follow, understand, and contribute to that.
Besides teaching applied and organisational anthropology courses, and attending to my tasks as Deputy Head of the department, my main activitity is the management of projects in AnthroAnalysis, Center for Applied Anthropology, the department's unit for collaborative research and training projects with external partners. This work involves a range of young researchers and students, and also forms the basis of my main research interests currently: Metaanthropology, or the study of the formation and use of anthropology skills in practice, as well as the field of organisational and business anthropology.
Research interests from my earlier career have never left me entirely, and I continue to study, teach, and publish on social policy, public management, and social work, not least in the field of drug use treatment and policy - both as a critical scholar and as an advocate of drug policy reform.
