Current research

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and population genetics of fungi. The use of molecular marker for studying diversity population structure and reproductive mode of soil fungi. Among the studied fungi are Fusarium, Penicillium, various Oomycota (Peronosporamycota) and the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in Glomales. We use AFLP (amplified restriction length polymorphism) and DNA sequencing in combination with SSCP (single strand conformation polymorphism) (see picture) to generate markers for these studies.
Molecular diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agriculural fields and natural vegetation is studied at community level from variation in LSU rDNA sequences (see picture), and by multilocus genotyping.
